Is BJP Hampering Hindu Revival?

Is BJP Hampering Hindu Revival

Two years have passed, since the so called Hindu Nationalist Party, the BJP was elected with a whopping majority to the lower house of the Parliament, the Loka Sabha. The BJP was successful in creating an atmosphere of positivity and hope for the masses and thanks to its charismatic PM candidate Shri Narendra Modi, it was also successful in rightly tapping the aspirations of a young India. But, electoral Pundits have long debated if these were the only causes for the BJP’s decisive victory. Some have, time and again, asserted that it was the cultural aspirations of the Hindus, which brought them to power.

While I cannot tell how the BJP itself views its victory, I can vouch for the fact that a large number of hard working and dedicated volunteers, who were truly responsible for the win, did see in BJP an end to administration by self-alienated and self-hating ‘seculars’. There was a huge aspiration to have a government, which was sympathetic and proactive towards Hindu causes. But, two years down the line, it appears that the hopes were ill-founded and based on ignorance about political realities. The question, which many are asking now is, whether the BJP is hampering Hindu revival? Whether it is becoming the biggest hurdle to achieve the goal of rejuvenation of Sanatana Hindu Dharma?

The task of Hindu revival is certainly not simple. Enormous challenges and obstacles, especially from well-set, deep-rooted ideologies, would have to be overcome at every single step.

Arvind Kejriwal never held a single meeting on women safety in Delhi, reveals RTI – Know details

Arvind Kejriwal never held a single

It seems Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is all talk and no action as far as the issue of women safety and law & order situation in the national capital is concerned!

According to an RTI reply, Arvind Kejriwal has never called a meeting either on the law and order situation or on the safety and security of women in the national capital, since assuming office as Delhi CM.

This was revealed in an RTI reply filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Harish Khurana, citing the response he received from the Chief Minister’s office, Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.

The RTI filed by Khurana from the period of February 14, 2015, to June 9, 2016, seeking details of the meetings called by Kejriwal on the law and order and women security stated that no such details are available within the records of the Delhi Government.

Referring to the RTI response which he received from the respective offices after Kejriwal took charge as the Chief Minister of Delhi on February 14, 2015, Khurana claimed that Kejriwal never met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, or Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on this particular issue.

End the Arvind Kejriwal show: An open letter to AAP supporters

End the Arvind Kejriwal show

Dear AAP supporters,

I once respected and admired your movement, born as it was in those heady days of Jantar Mantar. It was a true citizens’ movement, led by the newly empowered, educated, middle class that was fed up of a system reeking of entitlement and corruption. I cheered on Anna Hazare, and I too had goosebumps at the youth, the energy and the intelligence of the movement.

Alas, it was not to last. As with most revolutions, after the pure beginnings, a demagogue arose to steal the stage, and use the movement for his own purposes. Before we knew it, Arvind Kejriwal – clad in muffler, with his bizarre antics and natakbaaz cough had taken over the reins and purged those with backbone or morality – Anna Hazare, Yogendra Yadav, Kiran Bedi. The moral core of the party was dead, and the party was now little more than the Arvind Kejriwal Show.

The AAP today is just an Indian echo of the many populist movements that have broken out across the globe. These are fueled by our sensationalist news media and social media environment where truth, research, and facts are less important than snappy slogans, antics, and ratings. Be it Corbyn in the UK, Syriza in Greece, Le Pen in France, Grillo in Italy or Donald Trump in the USA, the story is the same.

And just like in the rest of the world, such a populist is dangerous.

Arvind Kejriwal and the era of gutter level politics

Arvind Kejriwal and the era of gutter level politics

Arvind Kejriwal announced the formation of a political party called Aam Aadmi Party with the promise of a new brand of politics. He promised India that AAP would bring in clean politics, focused around their anti-corruption platform. A new level of public discourse centered around transparency. Sure there were the boisterous sometimes outrageous press-conferences by Kejriwal where he fired his salvos on the people his court deemed corrupt. But there always seemed to be a certain level of dignity maintained.

As far as the promise of clean politics goes, AAP cannot claim to have fulfilled expectations. 1 minister sacked dramatically on allegations of corruption. Another minister forced to resign after being arrested in a cheating case. Allegations of corruption against another ministry, the minister of which was oddly relieved of only that portfolio, citing “health reasons”. That is 3 out of the 7 cabinet ministers. Not a very healthy score.

Add to this the fact that in the recent past, Arvind Kejriwal seems to have had a meltdown. A meltdown of epic proportions. The  language, tone and tenor have gone from tolerable to cheap, coarse and crass. One cannot fathom that Kejriwal is actually a Chief Minister, that too of the National Capital Territory, because his behaviour comes across as one of those conceited college activists who find it cool to abuse people in places of authority.

Congress was never National

 Congress was never

The Congress party that was founded by an Englishman may be ended by an Italian woman. It has always looked to foreigners and foreign sources for inspiration. Recent election results show that this ploy of projecting foreign faced exhibits in the name of ‘charisma’ may no longer be working.
