पंडित मदन मोहन मालवीय भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के एक अग्रणी नेता, शिक्षाविद्, समाज सेवक, दूरदर्शी व्यक्तित्व के धनी तथा वैदिक सनातन धर्म हिन्दू  के संरक्षक थे। आप भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के चार बार अध्यक्ष रहे। आपके व्यक्तित्व और कृतित्व से प्रभावित होकर महात्मा गांधी ने आपको "महामना" की उपाधि दी। भारत के प्राचीन नगर कशी में आपने "बनारस हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय" की स्थापना करके भारतीय ज्ञान – विज्ञान की  परम्परा को आगे बढ़ाया।।

As we approach the Republic Day and before the media and politicians go on eulogizing trip of being the largest Democracy of the World, let’s look at the state of affairs and examine the reality.

An important aspect of democracy is that it is ‘by the people’, but is it really true? We can take pride in the sheer number that we are the largest democracy of the world because no other country has such a big number of voters, but the ground reality is that in the last 62 years not a single elected government had mandate of 50% of the voters. Can we call any such government truly democratic?
